After many years of working with women in childbirth there was no information available that I felt comfortable to recommend to my antenatal groups. Most of the books were still telling women what to do. Instead of worrying about whether they would forget how to breathe they were now focussed on “Active Labour”.  I then had a lot of very tired mums who felt that they had to try every position in the book and were very anxious and distressed.
