The
underlying goal is to achieve an excellent "quality of life" for
all of our kids. This is where the name quolkids.com
came from. After some thought we
came up with the following seven fundamentals:
safety,
good health, knowledge,
education, earth care,
community
& convenience
We believe that “quality
of life” for kids is all of these things combined.
In our own lives we try to spend maximum family time together, have
fun often, stay informed on current issues, and are trying our hand at
earth care and sustainability - as we fight the ducks for lettuces in our
veggie patch !
The
next step is to develop a relevant web site to help families all over the
world achieve the “quolkids”
goal too.
This means offering a comprehensive range of on-line services and
unique products that will appeal to local, national and international
families. This way you can do all your birthday shopping, find out what to
look for when buying a pram, or simply have a laugh at one of our funny
anecdotes - all while your precious little ones are finally off to sleep.
Some
specific information about who we are:
Robyn
Antonelli
Robyn is a qualified primary school teacher
with many years experience working with junior primary children. In her
early career she worked in two small independent schools in W.A, including four years as Head Teacher at the Muslim Community
School. In 1990 Robyn travelled Europe extensively and taught in a variety
of public schools in London. This was followed by a three year contract at
the Singapore American School . During that time she was very active on
Reading/Language Arts committees and did some consulting work with other
teachers in some of the smaller schools in the Asian region. Robyn has an
interest in working with children with special needs and has trained as a
Sense Development Therapist.
Now the proud parent of two beautiful
children, Robyn spent two years as Chairperson of The Silver Tree Kindergarten - a new Steiner kindergarten in the
hills of Perth (now The Silver Tree Steiner School). Her strong interest in Steiner education stems from
its gentle approach to nurturing children, honouring childhood, and
developing creative thinkers. This year she embarked on a new journey
- home schooling her eldest daughter Tessa.
Family life is a major focus for Robyn and
together with husband Paul, she is striving to achieve the right balance
which will provide "quality of life". This involves spending
optimal family time together, role sharing wherever possible, and allowing
each member of the family the time to develop as an individual. Her
interests include travel, outdoor activities, permaculture, and
cooking.
The quolkids concept for Robyn is the
culmination of many years of learning, searching, and experiences. It is a
chance to build something worthwhile and to give back to the community -
local, national, and global.
Diana Broome
Diana
has developed a wide range of expertise and experience over her career.
Her key strengths and knowledge are in the areas of public
relations, information technology, marketing, administration and financial
markets. Now a mother of
two she is an avid researcher of all things
parenting. Since co-creating
the concept of “quolkids.com” she has particularly concentrated on
gathering information regarding pregnancy, birth and the development of
children to 5 years old.
During
her early career she held positions within Unisys, an international
computer company, PMFM Radio, and Hartley Poynton Stockbroking.
Before leaving to have her first child she was a stock market dealer
with ShareTrade Australian Stockbroking, now owned by ecorp.
Diana's
community focus and love of an active lifestyle saw her qualify in 1999
for her Bronze Medallion in Surf Lifesaving.
She is a member of Trigg Island SLSC and continues to obtain new
qualifications through the surf club in order to be more value on the
beach and to the community. She
is also a member of the WA Rogaining Association and enjoys rock climbing,
hiking and scuba diving.
quolkids.com
enables Diana to combine her skills in business and the internet
along with her passion for quality family life.
The “quality of life for kids” focus encompasses her love of
family, creates a community service, and will ultimately provide funding
to many Australian charities to which she is a keen supporter.
