ASTROLOGY
Within our Universe, the
Sun, Moon, Mars, Venus, Jupiter and many others, are constantly moving
in relation to Earth. Each of these create their own energy which, in
turn, affects Earth and its inhabitants and life forms.
At the exact time of any
persons birth, the position of each of these heavenly bodies and their
relationship to each other can be measured. An Astrological Natal Chart,
based on this positioning, can then be drawn up. A study of this chart
can give a very precise indication of the potentials available to that
person during their lifetime. Each and every person has their own
unique blueprint. When and where they are born creates their own
particular set of aspects in relation to the planets and the energy
that they are sending to that particular spot at that particular time.
We all know that we are born under one of the twelve the signs of the Zodiac
- eg. Taurus, or Virgo, or Scorpio etc. We get these tags based on
where the Sun is placed in the Zodiac at the time of our birth. Hence
it is called our Sun sign. And, speaking generally, each of the signs
say that we will be this or that. This is basically true, so how come
two different Scorpio’s do not have exactly the same tendencies?
The answer is simple.
The position of the Moon has a strong influence on the Sun sign,
sometimes softening a tendency, sometimes bringing the tendency on
stronger. So too do those other strong planets like Mars, Venus,
Jupiter and Saturn. Saturn, for example, is the taskmaster, constantly
putting situations in place to give a person challenges in life.
To get a view of the Sun sign tendencies see Sun Signs
In the hands of a
competent Astrologer, the details of the Natal chart can be expressed
in an understandable way. Then a person can get an understanding
as to why they tend to want the limelight or why they tend to work
behind the scenes, why they like music or painting or study etc. This
does not mean that they should just stick to what they find themselves
comfortable in. We have a free choice and can choose to tackle
challenging things. Things may just be a little harder for them this
way.
When a parent looks at
their newborns chart and sees the potentials that their new offspring
has, they then can be prepared and understand if little Johnny
doesn’t want to play football like Dad did. Two children within a
family may be interested in totally different pursuits. To try to push
them both down the same track could just create problems and
unhappiness, Similarly, trying to push a child down its possible
potential track may also be wrong, Remember the free choice. But the
information from a reading could be used in an understanding and
constructive way.(See Zodiac Child)
Astrology can be used in
many ways. The positioning of the planets and their effect on each
other and on Earth at any moment of time, can help in relation to, not
only the individual person, but also on
- Auspicious times and dates for couples experiencing conception problems
- Businesses and their annual planning
- Auspicious dates for meetings and events
- Holiday planning
There is a Yin/yang or
Negative/Positive application in all things. It is our choice as to how
we integrate these energies into our own personal space.
Choosing to work positively with the themes of your Natal chart, or any
other chart generated, can make life more understandable,
exciting and rewarding. Avoiding or ignoring the learning opportunities
afforded, may make life seem harsher than necessary and the
opportunities for growth may become bogged down or stagnating.

on.
Here are some suggestions to get you thinking-
- Personality profile
- Personal wealth and abundance possibilities
- Communication strengths
- Home and family issues
- Creative and artistic abilities/enjoyment
- Health issues
- Relationship dynamics

influence life’s challenges or ease of energy flow. (Chart can be
generated for any event).
Cycles – The planets all have their own cycles and at certain times activate sensitive chart points (life issues)
The Natal horoscope –or birth chart- of a person is calculated and drawn up according to the individuals time and place of birth.
It formulates the positions of the Sun, Moon, Planets and signs of the
Zodiac at the exact moment of birth, and represents the orientation of
an individual in time and space. It is a suspended moment in time and
space where the electromagnetic and gravitational fields of our solar
system relative to the individual become available, and are absorbed by
the infant on their first breath of life (like a Mandala)
The Natal horoscope
shows the potential attributes, strengths and challenges available to
help the individual on their pathway through life. The individual
chooses how they will work with these energies.
The horoscope is
represented by a circle of 360 degrees, divided into 12 equal parts to
represent the 12 Zodiac signs of 30 degrees each. Each of the Zodiac
signs is ruled by either the Sun, or the Moon, or one of the 8 planets.
The Zodiac begins with the sign of Aries at 0 degrees on or about 21st.
March each year. This point coincides with the Autumn equinox in the
Southern Hemisphere – or more particularly the Spring equinox in
the Northern Hemisphere (Spring – Life stirring)
During the course of a year, the Sun passes through each of the 12 Signs of the Zodiac.
When people want to know
what sign you are, they are really asking you where the Sun was on the
day you were born. If you say, for instance, that you are a
Gemini, you are stating that the Sun was in the Zodiac sign of Gemini,
when you were born. That is why the Zodiac signs are called Sun signs.
If you were born at the point where 2 signs meet, you were born on a
cusp and could be in either sign, because the dates can vary. Your
Natal chart will clarify the point.

An Astrologer will read and interpret the data contained in, and springing from, your Natal Chart. There can be other interpretations
The details show the
strengths that you have to face any challenges thrown at you in
following your pathway. Nothing is meant to be binding in any way, nor
set in concrete. Life is constantly changing, but the personality
traits that we are given at birth are there to help us achieve our
purpose in this lifetime.
Remember – It is
the Astrologers interpretation – and is there as a guide to
you. If it does not lie easy with you, then discard it. Do not go
against your intuition because of some-ones interpretation of your
chart. Retain your own internal power.
The interpretations are
recorded and given to you at the finish, for you to listen to at your
convenience. You may like to get it typed up and then add it to your
file for a continuous written record. Further consultations can also be
treated in the same manner and this will provide you with an up to date
profile of all work undertaken.
From time to time you
may wish to have further consultations about your Birth-chart, Solar
Return, Planetary energies, etc. It is a huge subject and energies and
vibrations will continue to flow ever forward to expand our awareness
on every level.
Solar Returns
A Solar Return is a
chart that is drawn up for when your Sun returns to its Natal degree at
your birthday. The date can vary approximately a day either side of
your Birthdate. This type of chart gives information about the current
year of interest and its energy potential for you. The energies can
begin to flow in prior to the Birthdate and they may also extend over
the next years Birthdate – so there is a continuous ebb and flow
as the old energies gradually move away and the new energies come in
and overlap each other, depending on the circumstances.
A solar return is based
on your Birthdate and is usually done on an annual basis, so that the
continuity and depth of the energies involved can be fully understood.
The transiting planets will be evaluated at this time as well.
Astrology for the Layman
For the purpose of
clarity, imagine that we have two wheels, turning on the same central
axis, but at different speeds (like the two hands on a clock).
The first wheel contains the twelve signs of the Zodiac. It takes 12 months to complete its full revolution. (See Zodiac).
The second wheel contains the twelve wheels of opportunity. It takes 24
hours to complete its full revolution. So each day sees a complete turn
of the wheel. (See Houses)
On the birth of a
person, the positions of the two wheels are recorded. Also recorded at
that exact moment in time are the positions of the Sun, Moon, the
Planets (Personal, Social and Outer) and also the Ascendant and
Mid-Heaven. (See details below)
From these details are
drawn a persons Natal chart. From the reading of that chart, an
assessment of the persons personality, strengths, challenges in life
and areas that will be strongly challenged or blessed with ease of
movement.
Whichever House the
planets are placed in, is the area of life where the focus of the
planets energy will be. If a House has no planet residing in it, it
simply means that there is no particular focus placed on that house
The Sun Signs
What is a Sun sign?
The Sun and the other planets rotate around the Solar System, closely
following the orbit of the Earth, and they all appear to move along the
band of sky around the Earth called the zodiac. During the year the Sun
moves through the sky in a circular pathway known as the ecliptic,
through the constellations that make up the zodiac.
In astrology the zodiac
is divided into 12 equal sections, and each section is assigned to one
of the Sun signs. That is how we get the phrase ‘the signs of the
zodiac’. The zodiac is a circle, which has 360 degrees, and each
of the twelve zodiac signs contain 30 degrees. Every month the Sun
moves from one sign into another. E.g. If you are known to be an Aries
sign then the Sun was passing through the sign of Aries at the time you
were born.

Astrology’s plaything ---- A Rag Doll becomes a Human
Imagine a Rag Doll, just sitting there with no life and no movement. And then the
transformation begins. Nature takes over. All of a sudden, a sunbeam comes in and
the Sun gives the doll life. The doll wakes up and is now on the way to becoming a
human. It has got life but has no structure as yet. Then the Moon comes
into play and gives it structure, feelings and emotion. But it is still
static. It is there and is aware of everything that goes on. It is
conscious, intuitive and can feel things.
Now it needs the
Ascendant to step in to give it movement. Hurray! Now it can start to
express itself with movement. “Hey, I can move, I can feel. This
is me” This is almost like the first expression of the
“I”, the individualised person. But nature hasn’t
finished yet.
The next one that comes
into is Mercury, which gives the mind, the intellect. So now we have
the thinking qualities to go with the emotions and you can make choices
with the thinking quality to them. But this is still not sufficient if
you do not have the heart. So then Venus comes into play and brings the
love and heart to the emerging human. Now there is joy in everything
that you do. It gives you the capacity for joy and enjoyment.
So now you have got your
joy, your intellect, you are moving. Now you need some way of putting
it out there so Mars comes to give you the physical strength to do what
you choose to do. So Mars is the male planet, the full force of
expression. Next comes Jupiter, which expands all that has so far been
applied, all that it touches and open up new horizons. It can be
boundless or whatever. But also coming in now is Saturn, which sets
your boundaries, your limits and sets your tasks. However, within those
boundaries, you have all of those other qualities working for you. See
how important they all are!
So Saturn sets your
tasks, makes you keep at it. Jupiter will expand everything as far as
it can. Mars will keep you going at it. Venus will bring the love to
it. Mercury is the mind, the intellect. So depending how they are all
placed around the Natal chart, will decide whether you have and easy
flow and can make choices easy and whether your boundaries are
limitless – or whether you have chosen a hard road, with stiff
boundaries with constant challenges, maybe things stifled making the
challenges even harder to overcome. In this case you will need a strong
Mars and Mercury (intellect) to steer you through. A strong Venus
providing the love also helps. Any imbalance in these three makes it
longer for you to come back into balance.
The outer planets
don’t want to be left out. They are more of a generational thing,
but they still exert some influence on a personal level. Neptune helps
to bring in the finer vibration, the spirituality, the music, the Arts
and the fine tuning of those things in the higher vibrations. It can
make everything clear, giving a smooth flow, yet on the other hand it
can make thing vague, unclear, cloaked in a cloud, creating a rough
passage. Uranus also wants to get in on the act. It will try to break
up old patterns, so that if you come into this world with a lot of old
patterns from the past, Uranus will help you break through them and
help set new boundaries with your Saturn. Then we come to Pluto, good
old Pluto, who will transform wherever it touches
So in the end, you have
this little doll, which all of a sudden, wakes up and says “Here
I am” and then “Oh, I feel things”, then “OK I
can move, I can go and do what I like”. Then, wait a minute,
Mercury comes in “Where will I go, what will I do, how shall I do
it”. Now it is the turn of Venus “Oh, this will be good for
people” You will love to do this and you will get joy out of
doing it. That is Venus working, together with the intellect showing
you how you can best achieve it. Now Mars says “Righto! I will be
right by your side and I will help you to achieve it. I will give you
the strength to do it”
So our new vibrant doll says “Ooh! Now I’m ready to get on
with it. Now I’m mobile, I’ve got a mind, I can think my
way through it, I’ve got the heart, I love to do what I’m
doing and I’ve got the energy. OK, what do I do with it?”
So Saturn steps in and says “Look here Dolly. This is where you
need to focus and within these boundaries you can work” Jupiter
jumps in on the act and says “I will expand your horizons for
you. You can do anything”
So he wakes up and says
“Oh! I can do anything. But, I’m bounded by the shores of
this island. I can’t get off the island”. And Jupiter says
“Yes you can. Try it. Push, push, push the boundaries” and
Mars says “Yes, I can, I can, I can do it. Go for it”
Venus joins in and says “I love it, I love it, I love it.” Mercury says “Mmm, this is how I will do it”
Oh dear, that’s it. Isn’t it exciting!
