Finger
Painting
Painting with kids can be
lots of fun. It is messy so prepare your activity well. It is a good idea to
have a painting apron or an old shirt to put over your child’s clothes.
You may also want to work outside or in an area that is easy to clean.
Finger painting has been a
favourite for many years.
To prepare the paint:
Mix one tablespoon of
cornflour with a little water to make a milky paste.
Pour in some boiling water and stir very quickly until the mixture
becomes thick, clear, and smooth. Add some paint, food colouring or dye to
make a bright coloured mixture. A dash of detergent will make it easier to
clean off later. Let the mixture cool down.
Painting time
Painting aprons on, sleeves
up, and time for fun! Use a plastic topped table or cover a table with a
plastic table cloth. Drop a spoonful of paint onto the table for each child
and they can paint all over the table with their fingers.
If you want to save their
‘creations’ press a piece of paper onto the paint.
