Make A Hobby Horse
“Ride
a cock horse to Branbary Cross
To see a fine lady upon a white
horse”
Children
love to gallop around on their very own horse. Often this can simply be a
broom or a gumboot put on the end of a stick. However, it can also be fun to
make one.
You
need:
One of dad’s old socks
(preferably clean!)
Fabric scraps
Buttons
Needle and thread
Elastic bands
Newspaper
Twine
A long stick/ piece of dowel/
broomstick about your child's height
Stuff
the sock with scrunched up newspaper. You can make ears by sewing on cut out
fabric pieces or by twisting up parts of the sock and tying them off with
elastic bands. Sew on two buttons for the eyes. You could make the mane by
sewing some wool through the top of the sock. Attach the head to the stick
with an elastic band or twine. You may want to use some twine to make some
reins.
Now
your horse should be ready for some serious riding fun.
