A
Winter Seasonal Table
Snow
is not that common for most of us in the Southern Hemisphere so a brown
cloth as a base and crimson or dark blue clothes to soften the setting are
ideal. Add some interesting logs or parts of an old tree root and a small bare branch. You could also add a small pumpkin,
a winter lantern or candle, some cinnamon sticks, and even make a small
‘fire’ with twigs and coloured foil paper left over from Easter. If
you do live in an area where there is snow use a white cloth as a base.
If
you want to include figures you will need Mother Earth dressed in her hat
and cloak and some little root children who are quietly sleeping. The
story of how Mother Earth gently wakes the root children towards the end
of Winter to prepare for the Spring will be included in coming weeks.
Patterns showing how to make the figures can be found in “The Nature Corner”
book. Otherwise, be creative.
You could use dolls you already have, make some simple dolls out of wool,
cloth, pegs, or even modelling clay. Once again we will include some of
these ideas in coming weeks.
The
most important thing to remember is have fun. Some of the dolls you make
with your child may not be perfect but they will certainly be beautiful
and well loved!
