Education - The Magic of Story-telling

"If you want you children to be brilliant, read them fairy tales.

If you want them to be even more brilliant, read them more fairy tales.”

Albert Einstein

Ever since time began we have been telling stories to our children. There is something magical about sitting and listening as words create wondrous images and great tales.

This section of the site will be devoted to honouring that age old tradition. We will bring you an assortment of stories, some old, some new, which are loved by children the world over.

There are no pictures to go with these stories and in many ways that is a good thing. Read them to your children and let them create their own images. The villain in the story can be as scary as your child wants them to be and the beauty of the princesses, well there is no limit to the imagination!  Even better, learn the stories yourself and tell them to your children. A story told leaves an even greater impression on the child.

We will give the original version of the stories and will indicate an approximate recommended age. This is a guide only - please read the stories first and decide which ones are appropriate for your child at this point in time. Some people argue you should never change the story, others like to change a few words if they feel it is a little harsh or unsuitable. Do what feels right for you but please have a go at sharing some of these with your children. The essence of the story, the language and the images are truly wonderful.
