It's ripper to be a nipper

SURF LIFE SAVING WESTERN AUSTRALIA has over twenty (20) surf lifesaving clubs from Broome in the north to Esperance in the south. All surf lifesaving clubs run a hugely successful Junior program for children aged between 7 and 14 years of age, affectionately known as "Nippers".

Nipper training sessions are run at all surf lifesaving clubs each Sunday morning throughout summer and are fully supervised by qualified surf lifesavers. Mums and Dads are encouraged to come along and help run fun and educational activities such as beach relays, beach flags, body boarding and swimming.  Kids learn the basics of water safety and awareness, such as how to recognise a rip and what to do if they find themselves in trouble at the beach.  The Nippers program helps builds kids' self esteem, helps them to develop their socialisation skills, learn the benefits of teamwork and creates a mutual respect for each other and for their environment.

So how do you become a Nipper? Check out our website www.slswa.asn.au or call Surf Life Saving WA on (08) 9244 1222 to find out your nearest surf lifesaving club.  We'll then give you the club's phone number where you can find out more information about Nippers.
