Greetings,

Welcome to the March edition of the Quolkids
newsletter. Unfortunately it is arriving in your inbox a little later
than planned. However it should be just in time for Easter.
See below for some Easter activity ideas for the whole family.
Faye Read
The aim of this newsletter is to keep you up to date with our news and what is happening on the Quolkids website as well as its 'sister' website 'Soulbirth'.
Well 2009 is off and racing!! The Christmas break
has just finished and now we're already on the Easter break. Time
seems to be moving at a very rapid pace. Even my kids comment on
how fast the time goes by. I don't remember it being that way
when I was a kid.
So what can we do to find stillness in each and every
day, so that we can reflect on what is happening all around us? I
have found that if I wake each morning and take 5-10 minutes to focus
on the day ahead, the day seems to unfold in a much more orderly
manner. Take a few deep breaths, clear the mind and then focus on
the day ahead. Note all the things that have to be done, then all
the things you'd like to do. Organise them in your mind in some
kind of orderly sequence. See the day then unfold perfectly to
plan, with grace and ease. Take a few more deep breaths and come
back to the present. If you need to, write it all down.
Then go about your day and notice if it made any difference. I
have found repeatedly that when I do this small activity, it releases
the chaos of the day and I remain much more calm throughout.

News
On Saturday 7th February 2009 we had our big event...the 'Universal Day of Soul-Birthing'.
It was a big success. The day focused on realizing our true potential
and acknowledging beautiful souls everywhere on all planes of
existence. The aim was to dedicate time to honour our souls
journey and raise awareness on a global/universal level about how truly
amazing we all are!!
For a summary of the days events, visit the homepage at: http://www.soulbirth.com and follow the links.
Later this month, I will begin a series of FREE 'teleclasses' on a
series of topics about 'the souls journey'. This is a follow on
from the 'Universal Day of Soul-Birthing' as promised. The titles
of these teleclasses will be:
-
Who are we and why are we here?...The journey of our soul.
-
The collective Consciousness...and the Universal Law of Existence.
-
What happens at birth?...The incarnation process.
-
The journey through life in a physical existence.
-
Death as a transition...The return to source.
An
email will be sent out shortly regarding dates and times, and an
opportunity to register for these classes. Each teleclass will be
recorded so that you can listen in at your leisure if you miss the live
event. You must register to receive the links to these.

Activities
Now
with Easter upon us, why not spend the day doing some traditional
Easter activities? Why not make some 'hot cross buns'?
Following is a recipe:
Hot Cross Buns
Easter wouldn't be complete without these traditional buns. This is one of the best recipes around. Recipe makes 12.
Ingredients
750g plain flour
2 sachets of dried yeast (double the quantity for fresh)
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons of mixed spices
250g (1 cup) currants
125g butter
300ml milk
100g brown sugar
3 eggs, beaten
200g marzipan
1 egg, beaten, for glazing
Icing sugar
Method
Put the flour, yeast, salt, mixed spice and currants into a bowl and make a well in the centre.
Melt the butter and add the milk together
with the sugar. Warm to blood temperature (same as your fingers). Too
much heat will kill the yeast, and too little and it won't rise.
Pour the milk and butter mixture into the
well and add the beaten eggs. Mix until a soft dough is formed. Turn
out onto a lightly floured board or bench and knead until the dough is
very elastic (about 15 minutes).
Place the dough into a lightly greased
bowl. Cover with cling film or a tea towel and leave to rise in a warm
place for about 90 minutes until the dough has doubled in volume. While
the dough is rising, roll and form the marzipan into strips for the
crosses and beat an egg with a little milk for the glaze. Use a little
icing sugar to stop the marzipan from sticking whilst rolling. Preheat
the oven to 200°C.
Turn out the dough onto a lightly floured board and knock down. Knead again for a few minutes. Divide the mixture into 12 pieces and form each one into a bun
shape. Place onto a greased tray and leave for approximately 15 minutes
until doubled in bulk. Brush with egg glaze and place a cross on top of
each one. Bake for about 15 minutes at your preheated temperature of 200 degrees Celsius. Cool on a wire rack.
There's also a terrific idea for making Easter eggs at the following link: http://www.quolkids.com/funstuff/activities/easter_eggs.htm
Why not share an Easter story with the kids? Find one at the following link: http://www.quolkids.com/funstuff/activities/autumn_easter_story.htm
Enjoy your Easter holidays with family. Spend some time reflecting on wha t
Easter is all about. It's not just all about chocolate and the
Easter bunny! Think of something nice to do for another person on
this day and give the gift of a smile to all those that you meet.
A happy, positive attitude can make all the difference in the world,
not only to yourself, but to all those around you.
I hope you have enjoyed this
newsletter from Quolkids. I look forward to sharing more news and
views with you next time. HAPPY EASTER!!
